Super Sonic and the Chaos Emeralds Perler/Artkal Beaded Framed Art

Super Sonic and the Chaos Emeralds made from Perler/Artkal Mini Beads

This is a super fun project that my son and I made together. We used some sky paper that we found at Hobby Lobby and mini Perler and mini Artkal beads to make Sonic and the Emeralds. Added a glass frame and the finished product is above. We feel that it turned out pretty well. (Side note- if you haven’t discovered Artkal beads, they are amazing. They melt great with Perler and they have so many more colors. I have linked their site above. I was skeptical at first, but now I love them! I have only used the mini beads but I’m sure the regular size would work as well.)

We made several of these and I have hung one of them in our gaming area and another in my classroom in my reading area. They should be some great conversation starters with some of my students. Feel free to use our pattern above to make one for yourself or you can click here to go to my Etsy store to purchase to purchase one already made and will arrive to you through priority mail in just a few days. They are perfect to add to a classroom, library, living room, den, family room, kids room or practically anywhere.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mini Perler Beads – Keychains, Magnets, Earrings and More

TMNT- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Earrings & Keychains made from mini beads.

These super fun keychains and earrings are a throw back to the old 80’s style TMNT or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I used to watch this show every morning before school so it was fun showing my kids.

Perler pattern for TMNT

I used mini Perler beads with a few mini Artkal also. What I love is that when you melt them with a more pixalated look, you can’t tell which is which. The mini size also works perfect for keychains, magnets, or dangle earrings.

Perler pattern for TMNT

Mini Perler can be found at perler.com or on Amazon. Artkal beads can be found at a artkalfusebeads.com or also on Amazon. Perler is generally my favorite bead but when it comes to the mini bead size, Artkal wins out in my opinion. There are a ton more colors and you don’t have to buy the entire tray to just get one or two colors.

Please use the patterns above to make your own or you can purchase some cute ones already made at my Etsy store here. Any 3 items purchased across my shop ships free!

Harry Potter Mini Bead Fun- Sorting Hat Quote

Sorting Hat Quote- Framed Vinyl with the Houses made from Mini Beads

This is a super fun project that my daughter and I made together. This is one of my all time Harry Potter quotes from the sorting hat.

It is OUR CHOICES that show us what we truly are, far more than our ABILITIES.

We used some sparkling paper that we found at Joann’s (Amazon has similar here but not exactly the same kind that we used) and used our Cricut machine to cut the vinyl (black and holographic sparkle blue for a few important words). We used mini Perler and mini Artkal beads to make the houses and added a glass frame. The finished product is above. We feel that it turned out pretty well. (Side note- if you haven’t discovered Artkal beads, they are amazing. They melt great with Perler and they have so many more colors (See Gryffindor house above. I have linked their site also. I was skeptical at first, but now I love them! I have only used the mini beads but I’m sure the regular size would work as well.)

We made several of these and I have hung one of them in my husband’s classroom and another in my classroom in my reading area. They should be some great conversation starters with some of my students in the fall. Feel free to use our pattern above to make one for yourself or you can click here to go to my Etsy store to purchase to purchase one already made and will arrive to you through priority mail in just a few days. They are perfect to add to a classroom, library, living room, den, family room, kids room or practically anywhere.

Discovering Mini-Perler Beads with Avengers

Avengers Magnets made with Mini Perler Beads

MINI PERLER BEADS!!!! I have recently discovered these little gems and they are super cute and awesome!!! You can still build your characters and other designs out of the classic Perler beads, however these Avenger pieces are only 2 ½ cm high compared to the classic Perler beads which would make them 5 cm tall. (see Iron Man below)

Kandi Patterns is great for discovering or making your own patterns.

Just to give you some ideas on the difference in size between the classic Perler beads and the mini Perler beads…

Iron Man- made with both mini & classic Perler beads to show the difference

Perler Bead Pegboards- Mini Version and Classic regular version

The official Perler site has a great selection of both the classic and mini bead versions. Amazon has 4 trays like the one here, and they have a variety of color selections. The small pegboards are super cute but they do take a little getting used to. The tweezers are definitely a lot sharper and have more of a needle nose look to them. However, I had a blast playing with all of the designs and creating the smaller versions. These smaller characters are super easy to put on a key chain, magnet or a backpack clip and they won’t take up too much space.

The little magnets that I have created above are on my new Etsy store if you would like to purchase a character or a set already made, then please go there. I also have Do it yourself kits which have the beads needed or whole kits that have the beads, a pegboard and an ironing sheet so you can make your own.

However, If you were going to do lots of the mini bead creations, then I definitely recommend buying bulk from Amazon or Perler but if you want to get your feet wet with these mini beads, then the set on my Etsy store may be the way to go. The only thing not supplied are the tweezers.

Either way you do it, the mini versions are super cute. You can try making some of your previous creations with the smaller versions and see what you think. Hope you love them as much as we do!
