Girl Scout Bridging Cakes

girl scout, bridging ceremony, cakes
This was our version of each level’s uniform represented on a cake.

During one of our bridging ceremonies, we decided to make cakes to represent each level.  It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun creating the cakes.  The girls loved them!

Items Needed

  • cake mix to make 4 cakes
  • blue, brown, green,white icing
  • food coloring
  • fondant & piping bags
  • mini marshmallows
  • rainbow airheads
  • different colors of sprinkles

We started out by making 4 cakes and iced them different colors.  To make the khaki color, we mixed some of the chocolate into the white icing.  Next we used fondant into piping bags and decorated the cakes.  We used pictures from the Girl Scout books to attempt to make some badges on each one.  We also added sprinkles in parts like the flag and daisy petals.

To make the badges look 3-D, we used frosting underneath each badge to make it a little higher than the rest of the cake before decorating it with fondant.

Finally, we connected each of the cakes together using the mini marshmallows and rainbow colored airheads.  The result is above.  This was our first attempt, so we were quite proud that they turned out. If you do something similar, we would love to see it.
